1. Who can study Chartered Accountancy?
Students who have cleared or appeared in final year of +2 or Intermediate level in any stream can study Chartered Accountancy starting from CAP-I/ CPT. However, students Passing +2 or Intermediate in any stream can join CAP-I/Foundation of ICAN and students who have already passed Bachelor with prescribed percentage may directly join CAPII/ Intermediate.
2. Can those students who have not cleared but appeared for final exams of +2 or Intermediate level and waiting for results study Chartered Accountancy?
Yes, the students waiting for results can also join Chartered Accountancy. They have to get registered provisionally and submit the proof of passing to the Board within 6 months of registration and failure of which will cause the cancellation of their registration. Provisional registration for CAP-I and CAP-II are available under ICAN however there is Provisional registration under ICAI for CPT only.
3. Where can we get CA education?
It can now be completed in Nepal. Full facilities including classes and training are available in Kathmandu. However if desired, students may go to other countries for the same.
4. Which is the university imparting CA education?
Any university in the world does not impart CA education. For CA education, every country has its autonomous body established under the Act of Parliament, like The Institute of Chartered Accounts of Nepal for Nepal and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for India. Students have to get registered with the Board and may take private coaching classes.
5. What is ICAN?
ICAN stands for The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal, an autonomous body established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1997, enacted by parliament of Nepal to regulate CA profession in Nepal.
6. What is ICAI?
ICAI stands for The Institute of Chartered Accounts of India, an autonomous established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, enacted by the parliament of India to regulate the CA profession in India.
7. What is preferable, ICAN or ICAI?
It is the self-interest of students with which Board he/she wants to be registered. However, students can be given advice as to the preference of the Board considering their individual factors on request.
8. Is there any provision of transfer between ICAN and ICAI during studies?
No, so far there is no agreement for interchange between ICAN and ICAI.
9. What are the eligibility criteria to study Chartered Accountancy?
The eligibility criteria to study Chartered Accountancy under ICAN and ICAI are different and they are as follows.

10. What are the dates of registration for Chartered Accountancy course?
Registration is open throughout the year. A student may register anytime during the year. However, as the examinations are held in June and December under ICAN and June and December under ICAI, it is necessary that a student must register at least some prescribed months before the examination. Registration calendar can be obtained at request from CCMA office.

12. Is it really hard to study Chartered Accountancy as is generally understood?
As the saying says, "Nothing is possible for those, who do nothing", Chartered Accountancy education requires in depth dedication and regular labor with genuine effort for the successful completion of the course.
13. Where are the examinations held?
Under ICAN, the examination center will be inside the Kathmandu valley as directed by ICAN. However the examination under ICAI will be as per the provision of Board.
14. What are the passing criteria under ICAN & ICAI?
Under ICAN, a student is declared passed if he/ she secures a minimum of 50% in an aggregate and 40% in each subject in all level. However, under ICAI, a students is declared passed if he/ she secures 50% (100 marks) in an aggregate in CPT and minimum of 50% in an aggregate and 40% in each subject in IPCC & Final level.
15. Is there any restriction in number of attempts?
Under ICAN, for CAP-I and CAP-II students can attempt up to 10 consecutive times and under ICAI for CPT and IPCC students can also attempt up to 10 consecutive times. For CA Final level there is no restriction in number of attempts under ICAN and ICAI.
16. Is it possible to do CA along with other college education?
Yes, of course! Students can do other bachelor programs like BBS, BBA, etc.
17. Is there any scope for those who will not be able to complete CA for any reason?
Those who cannot complete CA will still have better future than plane university degrees because they have thorough practical education along with rigorous training of 3 years.
