1. Who can study Chartered Accountancy?

Students who have cleared or appeared in final year of 10+ 2 or Intermediate level in any stream can study Chartered Accountancy starting from CA Foundation/CPT. However, students Passing +2 or Intermediate in any stream can join CA Foundation of ICAN and students who have already passed Bachelor with prescribed percentage may directly join Ca Intermediate Level.


2. Can those students who have not cleared but appeared for final exams of +2 or Intermediate level and waiting for results study Chartered Accountancy?

Yes, the students waiting for results can also join Chartered Accountancy. They have to get registered provisionally and submit the proof of passing to the Board within 6 months of registration and failure of which will cause the cancellation of their registration. Provisional registration for CA Foundation and CA Intermediate are available under ICAN however there is Provisional registration under ICAI for CPT only.


3. Where can we get CA education?

It can now be completed in Nepal. Full facilities including classes and training are available in Kathmandu. However if desired, students may go to other countries for the same.


4. How can we get CA education?

After the registration with the concerned Board (ICAN or ICAI) students may take private coaching classes and prepare for the exam.


5. Which is the university imparting CA education?

Any university in the world does not impart CA education. For Ca education, every country has its autonomous body established under the Act of Parliament, like The Institute of Chartered Accounts of Nepal for Nepal and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for India. Students have to get registered with the Board and may take private coaching classes.


6. What is ICAN?

ICAN stands for The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal, an autonomous body established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1997, enacted by parliament of Nepal to regulate CA profession in Nepal.


7. What is ICAI?

ICAI stands for The Institute of Chartered Accounts of India, an autonomous established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, enacted by the parliament of India to regulate the Ca profession in India.


8. What is preferable, ICAN or ICAI?

It is the self-interest of students with which Board he/she wants to be registered. However, students can be given advice as to the preference of the Board considering their individual factors on request.


9. Is there any provision of transfer between ICAN and ICAI during studies?

No, so far there is no agreement for interchange between ICAN and ICAI.


10. What is the difference between ICAN and ICAI?

The only difference between ICAN and ICAI is that ICAN is Nepalese Board where as ICAI is Indian Board for CA education.


11. What are the eligibility criteria to study Chartered Accountancy?

The eligibility criteria to study Chartered Accountancy under ICAN and ICAI are different and they are as follows.


LEVEL REQUIRED ELIGIBILITY
CA Foundation At least 10+2 or Intermediate pass or result awaiting students in any discipline or non-exempted Graduates.
CA Intermediate CA Foundation pass or Exempted Graduates

Exempted Graduates:
  1. Commerce Graduates having not less then 50% marks.
  2. b. Non-commerce Graduates having not less than 60% marks.
CA Final CA Intermediate Pass

12. What are the dates of registration for Chartered Accountancy course?

Registration is open throughout the year. A student may register anytime during the year. However, as the examinations are held in June and December under ICAN and May and November under ICAI, it is necessary that a student must register at least some prescribed months before the examination. Registration calendar can be obtained at request from CCMA office.
